Don’t Let Cavities Spoil Your Holidays

‘Tis the season for sweet treats, turkey dinners and a cozy fireplace. This year, enjoy the holidays while keeping your smile healthy and bright. Since lots of good food comes with a higher risk of cavities and tooth decay, we’re giving you our top tips for the season.

FILL UP ON FRUIT

Instead of indulging in too many sugary desserts, enjoy the fruits. Hosting a dinner party? Rather than prepping a lot of cakes and pies — stick to one sweet dessert, then make a large fruit platter for everyone to choose from.

KEEP FLOSS HANDY

A favourite pro tip is to keep dental floss handy in your bag or pocket. Not only is it a great idea to pop into the bathroom for a quick floss after meals — but you’ll be ready for anything that ends up stuck in your teeth during a holiday party.

STICK TO YOUR ORAL ROUTINE

We know exotic vacations, late-night movie marathons or having family sleepovers can deter you from keeping a regular oral health routine. But (as best as you can) stick to a twice-a-day brushing, flossing and gargling schedule.

DRINK WATER

Keeping hydrated boosts your immune system and helps wash away food debris and bacteria from your teeth and gums. Bonus: your skin will also thank you.

Schedule a post-holiday cleaning

Holidays are usually hectic. And even with the best intentions, you might not get the usual brushing and flossing time in. The good news: you can schedule a post-holiday clean and check-up now.
